The Biography
Timeless on vogue: The sisters Dynelle Rhodes and Ingrid Arthur, better known as the WEATHER GIRLS, are a timeless hit-sensation concerning Dance, Pop and soul rhythms.
For over twenty years the explosive ladies now have twisted over the stages all around the world and satisfy their fans with powerful voices and an amazing party feeling.
Anyone knows: „It`s Raining Men“ or „Can U Feel It“, the songs, that after their international breakthrough with worldwide upper places in the charts became THE Partyhits of the last twenty years and since then unites people all over the world with their borderless partyfeeling. For years this songs are essentials on every disco-party. THE WEATHER GIRLS equally address the youth and the older ones. The girls are simply cult!
Just a few sentences to the history of THE WEATHER GIRLS:
Founded as „Two Tons of Fun“, as what they called themselfes in the seventies, the duo formerly just contained of Izora Armstead and Martha Wash. With recording the song “It`s Raining Men” and the change of the name to WEATHER GIRLS an international career started in the early eighties.
When Martha Wash decided to start her solo-career at the end on the eighties Izora Armstead had the idea of founding a family-enterprise, for everyone knew the WEATHER GIRLS as a duo before. “My mother called me one day and asked, if we shouldn`t be singing together”, remembers Dynelle Rhodes, daughter of Izora Armstead. “At first I thought, she was kidding me, but she just said “You gotta hurry honey. I`m in the studio recording a new album. You gotta decide now!”
So I chanceled my job and moved to New York with my son Anthony!“
The Debut-Family-Album “Double Tons of Fun” became a big success, just like the contained hit-single “Can U Feel It” and the WEATHER GIRLS, now mother and daughter continued their story of success.
When Izora decided, to retreat from the stressy life of touring all over the world step by step, she made a phonecall again… This time the other daughter Ingrid Arthur was on the other end of the line and she as well had not to be begged for for a long time. She was passionate of walking in the mother`s shoes. Unfortunatly Izora died much too early just a short time after this.
Now there`s a new studio-album of THE WEATHER GIRLS and after „Puttin` On The Hits” one thing is still clear: “Nomen est Omen”: TOTALLY WILD! Led by the single “Wild Thang”, an extremely dancy, uptempo disco-track, for which we just finished our videoproduction by Mark Feuerstake, the album contains souly vocal-tracks as well as “disco-burners” and represents, wrapped in the finest Hi-NRG-sound, the best of the Coconut-Records-Label and the very own studios in Hennef (Germany).
Dynelle, better known as “Dee”, and Ingrid show us on this album, what amazingly great voices they have!
Apart from many new compositions TOTALLY WILD contains a great collection of classical disco-covers. With the remake of their hit “Can U Feel It” and with their new interpretations of for instance “Born To Be Alive”, “Don`t Leave Me This Way” or “Muscles” the WEATHER GIRLS made clear, that they are essential to the scene for years.
They are powerful, dynamic and wild – just “TOTALLY WILD”
