The Biography
”I make music that means something to me, that moves me. And the lyrics have to be about more than just giving the message: party down”, says WORTHINGTON, the new shooting star. He himself describes his original sound as ”urban alternative”, and the sound is a catchy mixture of HipHop, R&B, Soul as well as Pop.
First the release of the single by
WORTHINGTON– All Or Nothing– and then the debut album WORTHINGTON will follow in the fall of this year. Like so many other WORTHINGTON-songs, You’ll Never Get To Heaven was recorded at ”Transcontinental Studios” in Orlando, Florida. It is Lou Perlman’s studio, and he is the mastermind behind artists such as Backstreet Boys, ‚N Sync and Aaron Carter. Experience at Transcontinental Studios, the Touch & Go studios as well as in the Coconut studios, gave WORTHINGTON the opportunity to work with Veit Renn (‚N Sync, Backstreet Boys), Klarmann/Weber (La Bouche) as well as Halligan/Torello (Haddaway), among others. It was in Orlando that WORTHINGTONfirst met the guys from ‘N Sync. And all of the band members were completely taken by his great voice and his friendly and open nature. Which could imply that a future cooperation might not be excluded ...
So
WORTHINGTON’s debut album is really an international production – it is colourful, manifold and cosmopolitan, just like WORTHINGTON’s life.
The talented singer/songwriter is the youngest of four siblings (brother Martin III, sisters Sheryl and Desirée). He grew up in
Denver, Colorado, and was singing gospel songs in the church choir as a child. At age four he gave his first public solo performance. After finishing high school WORTHINGTONwent to Paris, following the traces of his French ancestors. Soon he was performing in the clubs of Paris, and all of his performances were sold out. In one of the studios in the ”city of love” he happened to bump into Stevie Wonder, and so he had a jam session with him until the early morning hours. ”It was an experience I will never forget”, Worthy – the nickname his friends call him – raves about till today. By the way, his favourite song You ‘n I is by Stevie Wonder.
Finally, the cosmopolitan WORTHINGTON returned to America, settled down in Los Angeles and worked with David Foster, Dr. Dre, Herbie Hancock, Gladys Knight, Curtis Stigers and Paula Abdul, to mention but a few.
And now the time has come for
WORTHINGTONto change his status as a ”secret tip” and become a star in his own right. For him it is just another small step in his journey, but for his fans it provides an enormous amount of pleasure. With his lyrics he addresses the souls, the legs as well as the minds of his fans to the same extent. ”I sing about longing emotions, about love and about relationships between people, but I also sing about doubts and disappointments”, WORTHINGTONexplains.
There are subjects that everybody has an interest in, especially since they are wrapped up in such professionally crafted and haunting tunes as these from WORTHINGTON, who – as an extra – is also really yummy looking!!!
